Bittersweet Goodbye's

I've been notifying students today that I'm officially leaving the Green and Gold. (I don't name schools/students/etc.) It's a bittersweet thing, as I've enjoyed and appreciated the staff and students so much. I hope the students here realize how good they have it, and how big of an opportunity it is to learn without distractions like drug raids, daily fights in the classroom/hallway, and gang affiliations.

To the tech club members, and tech class students: stay in tech! Regardless of who teaches it next year, there are opportunities for you if you just keep working with the technology every chance you get...in class is one of those chances. You'll be missed dearly, and would love to hear from you guys in the future.

Never stop being a student, even after you graduate high school, college, or beyond.

  1. Mr. Suter, reading this made me tear up. I know I didn't take your class this year cause of my busy schedule, but if I would've known you were leaving, I would've picked on you ALOT more. I love & miss you dearly, Jordin Piper.

  2. Whoah whoah, who's picking on who here? I'd appreciate it if you'd allow me to maintain the illusion that I'm still in charge.

Maybe our schools will have to team up and do some collaboration through the service learning projects Mrs. E. has going.

  5. Nic- Quit hating on GIMP. Keep in mind it's FREE. Try http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/ and start at the beginner and work your way up to expert. After you've done ALL of those, then re-evaluate the program. I think you'll change your mind.

Dall-uuuuus- So far I think the students aren't too sure about me. They tilt their heads sideways a lot with "whaaat" looks on their faces, but that's ok because they listen better then. My next blog post will have some classroom pics of my lab.

  6. I'll try but we download a trail download of photoshop but it will only be a temp fix. We wont work on flash ether so it is going to be a loooonnnnggg year and not a short one last year in your class. THe teacher is trying his best and i will give him a chance like i said i would last year. so on another note your class is three times the size of this one! I hope your class doesnt give you to much crap. So fill up your trophy case!

  9. Nic - What you're describing sounds a lot like software piracy. If it costs money, but I give it to you for free (or you download it for free somewhere) that's stealing. Can't help you on that one.
You have inspired me though to teach a unit on software vs. freeware vs. open source, etc. Thanks Nic!
